FOUR
CHRISTIANS THROWN OUT OF VETERAN’S STADIUM
DURING PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES’ GAY DAY 8/13/03
PHILADELPHIA
– Four Christians were thrown out of Veteran’s
Stadium during the Philadelphia Phillies’ first
ever “Gay Community Day” on August 12. The
Christians were escorted out of the park after displaying
a large banner from their center field seats, at the bottom
of the first inning, which read, “HOMOSEXUALITY
IS SIN, CHRIST CAN SET YOU FREE”.
Larry
Felzer, organizer of “Gay Community Day”,
tossed out the first pitch and was amongst hundreds of
gays and lesbians infiltrating the park Tuesday night
in a further attempt to advance the acceptance of their
ungodly and destructive lifestyles. As families and children
watched, one man provocatively danced and twirled an oversized
rainbow flag while others cheered him on.
Approximately
7 minutes after the banner was unfurled, Linda Beckman,
Nancy Major, Susan Startzell, and Michael Marcavage were
told by stadium security, “The executives said the
banner must come down!” Even though there were other,
larger, banners being displayed with a variety of messages;
the four Christians were ordered to take their banner
down or it would be confiscated based upon its’
message.
“We
were there to declare the WORD OF GOD while bringing a
message of HOPE to the homosexuals in attendance,”
said Michael Marcavage, a field preacher with the Philadelphia-based
REPENT AMERICA.
“The
banner was extremely effective and was seen by thousands,
we are earnestly praying for all those who desire freedom
from this sinful lifestyle,” said Linda Beckman.
Strangely,
the Christians were refunded their money and given four
free tickets to another Phillies game of their choosing.
They intend on using the tickets to once again bring the
WORD OF GOD to the fans and attendees at the stadium later
this season.
